La Cruz, Nariño
octubre 08, 2018I made this trip a few years ago when I went to La Cruz, Nariño with my brother and my mother to visit my mother's village, my grandparents and relatives. The trip began at 11:00 p.m. when the bus left the Cali terminal. The trip took about 12 hours.
When we arrived at the Plaza de La Cruz there were several relatives waiting for us, they received us with hugs and a lot of happiness. They took us to eat at a restaurant, the food was very good. Then they took us to the village called La Cañada where most of the relatives live and where we were going to stay. The trip from the village to the trail takes about an hour and a half, I could see through the windows of the vehicle a beautiful landscape with many trees, mountains and a beautiful river. Although the road is somewhat dangerous in wintertime because it is not made of concrete, but is made of pure earth.
We arrived at my grandparents' house, they hardly saw us they were very happy, then all the rest of the family arrived and we greeted each other and shared a good time. At night we stayed in an aunt's house, a very nice house and very comfortable dormitories. The next day in the breakfast we knew part of their culture and it is that there type 8 or 9 of the morning coffee is given with bread or another companion and to the 11 of the morning the breakfast is given and this is rice equal to the one that is served in the caleño lunch and to the 1 of the afternoon the lunch is given that only is composed by soup. That day they made corn soup, this is one of the typical soups of this place. In the afternoon we went to see the trail, you could see many crops of corn, beans, cabbages and some animals such as horses, cows, chickens, pigs and bulls. Afterwards my mother took us to visit her old house and to get there we had to go down a big mountain, the house was already abandoned and was next to a river.
The days continued normally, until one day we went to a place called Tajumbina in this place there was a huge waterfall and pools with thermal water, we were there all day.
In each day of our stay our relatives and friends of my Mother invited us to dinner, in some of these they served us guinea pig or rabbit, which I did not dare to try, I gave it to my Mother that if she loves this dish.
In the days we returned home, this time we came at dawn and traveled all day, to travel so we could see and know several places along the way to get to Cali, among them are El Bordo, Popayán and see the beautiful view offered by the landscapes. This was the trip I liked the most.
